Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
My Commitment
Equality
I am committed to ensuring that nobody receives less favourable treatment for an unfair reason. I recognise that in the UK, unfair reasons are considered to be those enshrined within legislation and consequently my commitment to equality must always be read in conjunction with my commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Diversity
Valuing diversity starts with valuing everybody as an individual. This means that I not only promote equality on the basis of discrimination legislation but in terms of all other differences also. My values are also based on my belief that diversity enriches our personal and professional experiences and that much of the success of my work has resulted from this.
My commitment is not tokenistic: it is a deeply held belief based on my personal experiences as well as my observation of, understanding and empathy with individuals and groups. It is reflected in all aspects of my training services; including:
- The learning environment – I strive to promote and role model anti-discriminatory language and practice, flexible and inclusive training, taking into account the diversity of learning styles. I challenge discriminatory language and behaviour and commit to feedback to clients any concerns arising in this respect during training days.
My written documentation: policies and procedures, learning programmes and course profiles. ‘Person Centred’ principles (sometimes referred to as ‘Rogerian’) underpin my work. These principles can be seen clearly throughout my written documentation and are made ‘live’ during my transactions with others, both within the learning environment and outside of it.
My Code of Practice ensures that my commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is unambiguous and remains uncompromised at all times.
